Why AMW is Different. Why AMW is Better.

To understand why we are different, you must first understand the industry. Most talent agents in the private event industry claim or imply that they represent artists. They fill their website with entertainment acts they can help you book but those acts are rarely signed to the agent and the agent rarely represents the act. Instead these agents are really brokers, working with you and the artist to broker a deal between the two. The list of artists is merely a list of artists you can hire. Once you engage the agent, they often walk a fine line to avoid representing anyone. When you finally sign a contract with your chosen entertainment, that contract states “Agent has no liability to either party.” So, when push comes to shove, the agent is looking out for the agent, not you. You are on your own.

We are completely different on many significant points.*

First, you will notice that we don’t list acts on the public portion of our website. Unlike other agents, we don’t sell the acts’ services, we sell our own. If all you want is entertainment, you can find it anywhere. If you want an advocate with years of entertainment and legal experience to advise you about the pros and cons of different acts and to guide you through the research, evaluation, booking, preparation and production stages of hiring entertainment, you can find it here.

Second, we don’t shy away from liability, we embrace it. We are the buyer’s agent with the same fiduciary obligation to the buyer that an attorney or accountant would have – this subjects us to a much higher standard of care. We’re fine with that because we’ll live up to it.

Third, because of that liability, we aren’t concerned with booking any old band for you, we are concerned about booking the best band for you. This primary function has driven us to build a business model that incorporates not only our own experience with and impressions of the entertainers, but also that of vendors and our clients. We prescreen every act we suggest either by virtue of having worked with them in the past, checking client references, conferring with other vendors who have experience with the act or a combination of the above. We also collect written feedback from our clients so that we can better monitor the performance and professionalism of each act. This allows us a unique opportunity to discover early on if an act is becoming inconsistent or heading downhill.

Fourth, we base our business processes on our relationships with the buyer. We learn all we can about the buyer and the event and we teach the buyer all that’s relevant about the industry, the process, what to expect and issues to address. An educated client is the best client, because an educated client is an engaged partner in a fun, exciting experience and an engaged partner is more likely to be happy with his or her entertainment choice.

Fifth, taking a cue from the legal industry, we have established a separate trust account where all of the money we receive is deposited before distribution to the ultimate recipient. There is no commingling of our funds and your funds. We don’t spend your money and replace it with the next client’s. It’s safe and secure.

Sixth, we don’t disappear once the contract is signed. We work with both buyer and artist to facilitate communication and make sure all issues are addressed. We don’t act like a middle man controlling the flow of information, we act like a backstop to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Seventh, we make sure everyone knows where we stand. We don’t attract buyers by claiming we represent entertainers and we don’t let entertainers believe that we are representing anyone other than the buyer.

Eighth, we do not require artists to commit to any type of exclusivity with us nor do we require artists to distribute our business cards at performances. Other agents do and it creates confusion, conflicts of interest and unnecessary liability for the entertainers.

Ninth, we collect feedback from clients and vendors on our own performance as well as the entertainer’s performance so that not only can we improve our services, but the entertainers can, too. We share that info with everyone we work with be they clients or artists.

At the end of the day, we provide more guarantees, put in greater effort and have a more significant incentive to insure that you get the best possible act under the best possible terms than virtually any other booking agent. Simply put: We work for you. We’re don’t succeed unless you and your event succeed.

*Several additional safeguards and benefits are planned for implementation and will be available to clients when ready. If you have any questions, ask. We'll provide prompt, honest answers.
